VIT, Vellore: Curbing freedom of female students or being protective?

Lets have a look at the links below first if you haven't already:

http://www.thehindu.com/news/national/tamil-nadu/kept-away-from-commotion/article5222370.ece

Ok. So much of the hoopla-hooh is going on around the VIT, Vellore campus these days. But what is this all about? You would know if you would have gone through all the links above.

Angry? Dismissive? Your blood boiling of anger and rage? Alumni females, you would agree with this right? How could a university which claims to be number 1 private university in India and aims to compete with the IITs do such a thing? Curbing freedom of speech, gender discrimination, women disrespect. All these words are coming across your mind. Right?

But guys. Hold on. Take a deep breath. This blog’s gonna be long but I guess by the end of it, we all would come to terms with each other. I am writing this blog from a neutral perspective. Being an alumnus of this prestigious institute I think I hold some amount of respect to it. And let’s not forget. It is not the University at fault here and I am sure even you would agree ‘coz most of us have spent at least 3 years of our youth here and we know what importance it holds for us!

So about youth, Robert Kennedy once said:
"This world demands the qualities of youth: not a time of life but a state of mind, a temper of the will, a quality of imagination, a predominance of courage over timidity, of the appetite for adventure over the life of ease”

True to his words, all of us (at least me, at the time of writing this blog) have that energy, courage and will power to bring about a change in society, in surrounding and in the place of our work and not tolerate the wrong at any cost. And I am sure perhaps this is what these two ladies who were sent back home had in minds when they opted to run an opinion poll to present the fact to the college administration of what ordeal are the girls at VIT are going through. Hats off to them. They really did a great job out there. I mean, look at the numbers. The result of this poll taken by 399 female students speaks of itself about the fuss that the students have to go around daily.

You would have had the whole picture of the how the system works for females in VIT. And yes, for the female students, it is a tough time. I have witnessed it myself and would often make fun of it when I was studying!! It was a regular complaint that one would hear about the 8 o clock deadline, the fuss about the week end plans that would eventually get cancelled because my female friends were not given permission, or plans that we had to cut-short due to the 5 pm deadline during weekends. It got worse after I graduated as I often hear from my juniors. More so, they would often crib about the deadline given to the boys on a Saturday night that was extended from a daily 9.30 pm to 11.30 pm. The misbehavior of one of the top most persons, who would actually go in and sit inside the girl’s host (where even a girl’s father was not allowed) passing lewd comments at the girls who would enter at two minutes after the 8 pm deadline, the restriction on the kind of clothes that they could wear outside the hostel and endless other complaints.

But let me just stick to the issue of restrictions here. You know when anything stops us from doing what we think is right, we tend to abolish and rubbish and protest against it. We want to break the boundaries and go beyond them. And that’s our nature. We just love the adventure.

But how often do we sit back, relax a bit and ponder about “Why that restriction is there after all?” Do we really need it? Is there a better way to that neither restricts us nor defeats the purpose for what that restriction is there for? My new boss describes life to be driven by two factos: 1. Principle and 2. Practice. And how do the two differ from each other? It is simple. Principle is what your objective is. And practice is what you actually do to reach that objective. So, principles are always right. There cannot be any opposition to it. No second doubt. Now how that principle has to be achieved i.e. the Practice can be right or wrong and it is perceptual. And I believe the same goes here as well.

I would start by quoting father of one of my female friend. On being questioned what made him send his daughter to VIT Vellore, despite it being in such a small town, where there was null possibility of having a guardian also. And I will quote him word by word: “I decided on the two main purposes. One, that it is the number one university. Two, I really liked the way they organized the security details of the campus. Though, I am sending my girl off to such a distant place and she has never been outside home before. But sitting thousands of kilometers away, I can am assured that my daughter will be safe though the 4 year tenure of her education”. Though I suspect he didn’t add the third reason: She didn’t get admission elsewhere… (Kidding) So don’t stop reading here. I know you would say, Blah!!! Another supporter of VIT administration. No, I am not a fan of their either. But guys, peace out. Go till the end.

We are educated, well behaved citizens and know our responsibilities, rights and duties. We are open to new ideas, new culture, westernization, we respect other religions. And it is our generation that is doing it at such a huge level. It is like a mass movement where we find ourselves more able and aware than our parents and their generation and trust me, the same would have been the case with them too. The point where I am leading this whole conversation is that yes, crimes and discrimination against women are on the rise. We know it. We are aware of it and we oppose it. So our principle is “Abolish this crime and discrimination”. And to achieve this, what our university practices is ensuring that the female students are safe and sound and it wants to take care of them. Now, there would be somewhere around say a thousand female resident student parents of whom day-in-day-out worry about their well being. More so, due to the greater risks that they now see which ponders on females these days, it gives them even more reasons to be anxious. So to ensure this, the university has implemented some rules and strict procedures because the ultimate responsibility lies with the university itself. Now, just imagine if something happens to any of the student, a guy or girl, it is the university who comes into picture. And let’s agree to this… No university would like a black mark on its name. Be it of any sort. Incidents do not discriminate gender. If it has to happen, it will happen. Putting up such rules is the practice of the university. Managing thousands of students is tough as far as I know they are doing okay with it. Think about the president who moves with a Z++ security. A whole convoy moves with him. He is important and an asset for the country. To protect him is important. He would certainly feel restricted. Restricted to move around, follow a set of rules and procedures. He has to because at the end he needs to be protected. It is like locking your house so that a theft can be avoided. But then if you close your doors and windows as well to avoid any possible opportunity, you will suffocate. And again, principle should be correct; practice may or may not be!

To counter why such rules are implemented only for girls and not for boys, yes the university administration is at fault out there. Perhaps they have got the funda of co-ed education system all wrong. But this is not discrimination. I am sure with leadership like Sekar Vishwanathan, gender discrimination can never hold up in the VIT. Girls have equal opportunities to compete in each and every field as boys, same job opportunities, exactly the same classes and faculty and exact same amount of access to each facility. Nobody wants to jail you, girls. Realize it. It is perhaps the university’s self-defense technique. You can definitely come up with some better out-of-the-box solutions and am sure they will be welcomed. Every student should have the freedom of doing things. But when you are under the umbrella of this university, you are bound to abide by the rules of the college. And rules should be equal for both boys and girls.

Dear readers, I know that restricting the female students is not the correct way of fight against the crimes. It is not an option at all. Empowering them is. Having a mentally correct society is. Having a society which treats women at par with men is. But do you think it will all change in one night? Rapes will stop in a day? Harassment will end just by itself? No it won’t until a stricter punishment is guaranteed to the wrong doer. It will take time. We have come out of dark shades of practices that used to be there at our parent’s time. We have evolved and matured. All of that has happened over time and this will take time too. We need to create awareness, we need gender sensitization. In my perspective, college’s intentions are not wrong, their methods are. VIT has set a wrong example by putting up such strict rules and cubing the voices of the students and sending off the two women students back home for doing the polls.

Maybe VIT should allow students (and that means both boys and girls), to be in campus by certain time and fix an equal hotel entry time for both. I believe the campus in itself is highly secure for a female to safely venture out at night. Maybe women can be taught some self defense techniques, a distress cell of the university, a special cell for crime against female students, a better methodology to track students in and out going. If our university is so much concerned about the security of the students, let it target both segments. And rather than making it a jail for the students, give them a little flexibility, have arrangements to make it a better place to learn. A place where both genders can interact with each other towards a productive future. Make it feasible to arrange to attend seminars and participate in competitions. Let them volunteer for NGOs. Erase all sorts of complications that they have to go through while crossing the university gates.

Before I end this blog, I would like to point out one thing and I hope you all will agree. Our culture and our mindset is arranged by the society we live in. This further affects our actions and opinions. Validity of such actions and opinions can differ from person to person and no one can justify them. To all the current students, you are there in that college for four years. Act responsibly and make those years the golden period of your life; not a time which you would regret later. Act responsibly and who knows, restrictions might just be done away with? Think how your parents would react to your actions. Your new found freedom, away from home is their major concern. But with freedom, comes responsibility. And it is quite often that we have seen the responsibility part being ignored so casually and later repented upon. Turn it into an opportunity to gain their trust and not to shatter their respect. University hostel is your home away from home. And some house rules apply to everyone!

Some inspirational quotes!!

  • Oprah Winfrey, American media proprietor, talk show host, actress, producer, and philanthropist: "Lots of people want to ride with you in the limo, but what you want is someone who will take the bus with you when the limo breaks down."
  • Barack Obama: “Focusing your life solely on making a buck shows a certain poverty of ambition. It asks too little of yourself. Because it’s only when you hitch your wagon to something larger than yourself that you realize your true potential.”
  • Marissa Mayer, CEO of Yahoo: “I always did something that I was a little not ready to do. I think that, that is how you grow. When there’s a moment of ‘Wow, I’m not so sure that I can do this, and you push through those moments, it’s then that you have a breakthrough. Sometimes that’s a sign that something really great is about to happen. You’re about to grow and learn a lot more about yourself.”
  • Narayana Murthy, co-founder Infosys: This is what Narayan Murthy wrote to his Infosys staff. "It’s half past 8 in the office but the lights are still on… PCs still running, coffee machines still buzzing… And who’s at work? Most of them??? Take a closer look… All or most specimens are?? Something male species of the human race… It's a typical Indian mentality that working for long hours means very hard-working & 100% commitment etc. People who regularly sit late in the office don't know to manage their time. Simple!”
  • Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Facebook: "The question I ask myself like almost every day is, ‘Am I doing the most important thing I could be doing?’… Unless I feel like I’m working on the most important problem that I can help with, then I’m not going to feel good about how I’m spending my time. And that’s what this company is.”
  • Tim Cook, CEO of Apple: "Life is fragile. We’re not guaranteed a tomorrow so give it everything you’ve got.”
  • Donald Trump, CEO of the Trump Organization: "Without passion, you don’t have any energy, and without energy, you simply have nothing.”
  • Michelle Obama: “One of the lessons that I grew up with was to always stay true to yourself and never let what somebody else says distract you from your goals. And so when I hear about negative and false attacks, I really don’t invest any energy in them, because I know who I am.”
  • Bill Gates, American Business magnet, Philanthropist: "Success is a lousy teacher. It seduces smart people into thinking they can't lose."
  • Beyonce, American singer, Songwriter, Actress: “Whenever I feel bad, I use that feeling to motivate me to work harder. I only allow myself one day to feel sorry for myself. When I’m not feeling my best I ask myself, ‘What are you gonna do about it?’ I use the negativity to fuel the transformation into a better me.”

Fun @ Fun World, Bangalore with VIs

Saturday was to be as usual as any other weekend for me. Little did I know, that it would turn out to be such an event-filled break from the monotony of daily life. And I would solely dedicate this to the new initiative by Prarthana and Prateek Kaul’s GiftAbled.

GiftAbled is a concept turned reality to create an inclusive gift store which provides a one stop shop for the gifts for the hearing impaired and the visually challenged.

So on Saturday, guys at GiftAbled (Prarthana and her core team) organized a trip to the Fun World, Palace Grounds, Bangalore to celebrate Joy of Giving Week. But what was different was that this trip was for the kids and adults who were visually challenged. I was one of the lucky 85 volunteers who got the opportunity to accompany the 50+ Vi s(Visually impaired). Trust me, this turned out to be the best event ever for me.

I could not resist noticing the zeal, the enthu in the kids. Some of them are 100pc blind and yet they had the courage to sit in the rides in a few which even we adults would think twice. The aura around them, their confidence, their power of imagination and their courage, give me one more life, even then I won’t be able to match any of them. How we take things in our life for granted and then make ourselves rely on them. And then you look at these kids and realize the actual importance of those things. The logic behind the turns each ride makes, why you get jerk on rides, how do they stop a ride, what happens in emergency case, medical facility of rides etc.. Tonnes of questions and it left me wondering that even though I have gone to so many amusement parks, I never thought about these questions. All I did was get on the ride, have fun and rush to the next one.

I now realize that all the differently-abled people, even though lost one sense, have the capability to develop the others so strong that no one can beat them. The spirit and the smartness they exhibit inspires me even more to have a positive outlook of life. An eye-opener, this day made me realize how little things in life are so important and how being optimistic and patient can win you the day! Hats off to all the people who are working/volunteering to make disabled people a part of the society, an effort to re-invent themselves, to prove their worth, to give them equal opportunity in every aspect of life and to bring smile on their faces.

The monkeys might make you realize this!

"Today is Tuesday. Don't get a haircut". "Don't wash clothes. Its Thursday today". "Aaj Saturday hai. Don't buy the car today. Its inauspicious to buy an iron item today". "Arrey shaam ho gayi. Ab jhaadu nhi lagate". "Raat ko nails nhi kaata karte".

I am sure most of you would have heard these from your elders around you. We all have grown up listening to all such phrases. I belong to a Hindu family and I will be honest, I have heard one such thing almost every day. And the feeling of hatred and even curses to whoever made such "stupid" rules, ooze out your brain. Sometimes you suppress that uncomfortable feeling and while at times you revolt and that’s when you have to hear a senseless explanation as to why you are told, what you are told!

Most of the things that we are told to believe in, for the sake of religion, as a ritual or as a superstition are not worth following!! All of them are just some man-made myths without any scientific or a physical proof available! And for the greater good of the mankind, I believe, these myths should be banished!

I am not against any religious belief. Religion should be practiced for the greater peace of mind and soul. I really appreciate the way India has evolved as a secular state with so many religions evolving on one holy land. The process of learning and teaching from and to other religions has been incredible (Though sometimes it gets disturbing when riots happen and bombings take place and religious cause is blamed for it while political gains are the main culprits behind it. But that's off topic for now!!). Belief should provide inner peace and not hinder growth. I have seen a sneeze cancelling a big businessman's highly profitable deal and a cat crossing the way forcing a friend to miss his flight 'coz his parents thought that the plane might crash. While one is a medical condition another is an uncontrollable animal. Was it fair and justified?

Superstition is given the name and backing of the society. Since, society follows this, we should follow it too! But why? Nobody knows the answer. For example many of you must have heard “Don’t use broom after sunset”.  This one had (mind the word had) a logical relevance. Long ago in India, when most of the population lived in rural areas, electricity was not so common in households and the only source of light was the sun for many houses. People would not clean their houses after sunset lest they should unknowingly sweep out something valuable. It made perfect sense then and still does in areas without electricity. But why there is any need to follow it now when our rooms have a CFL, an additional lamp maybe, and drawing rooms have a big chandelier. There is ample light even after sunset  Tell me why, why can’t I sweep away the dirt that's in my house after sunset? Can’t I make my place look good after sunset?

We all have some hard-core-chicken-eating friends. Some of them are the funniest bunch. They have this theory that they will not eat chicken on specific days because it is the day of  one of "their" Gods. Now guys, you are non-vegetarian. You "sacrifice" by not eating chicken, by not sacrificing an animal on some specific days to 'please and survive the wrath' of  your loving Gods. At times I wonder how much inferiority complex would other Gods (for the day on which they eat chicken) feel. True to say, in India, people do not worship God, they fear from it. Since childhood, we are taught "Don't do it, else God will punish you". A child restricts himself to an imaginary phenomenon called God. He never realizes what it looks like, the only thing that it knows is if he does anything without the consent of his parents, God will punish him. And then restricting him from experiments would only limit his knowledge. Love God, don't fear Him.

I am not judging anyone and neither do I expect anyone to change the way they think. My only point is to make these people realize that religious beliefs and myths(read Superstition) are two opposite concepts. While one promotes a promising life, other leads to a miserable and empty soul without any peace of mind. Think before you follow and think a hundred times before such myths are preached, especially to an innocent child because you would never know what repercussions it would cause him in the later stages of his life.

I don't know since when, but I picked up this habit of questioning these myths. Mind you, it does make some people very-very uncomfortable largely because they don't have any explanation for it. They have been blindly following such practices and abandoning them just makes them nervous. What’s more they expect the same from others too!

The graphic below is true satire to the practices which are followed without any logic behind them. The essence highlighted here pertains to many day to day scenarios including superstition. It shows a common human nature. We are scared of change and instead of changing ourselves or situation around us, we adapt to them. This adaptability is unknowingly taking a toll on us. We do not give a damn to the reason. But since "it is the way things are done here" we do it that way and move on. No one realizes that things made sense then and today, it holds no relevance. Moreover, if someone else tries to do something different we pull him back saying "Dude!!! That's not the way it is done". Go through it and think over!

Lastly I have this question to my Dear Darwin. Have the humans really evolved?

Zurker.com - New kid on the block

With a huge number of social networking sites available on internet, another one joins the pool. But this one's claims to have a different concept to back it. Claimed by various websites, the site founded by the Twin Brothers whose concept of social networking site was apparently stolen by Mark Zuckerberg(ultimately leading to the creation of world's most populated website, the Facebook), Zurker.com brings to you with a new set of UI, themes and ultimately the platform to socially interact with your friends family etc etc.

Conceptually, this website makes you the shareholder for having an account on the site. The shares can be earned by the number of successful referrals you sent to your friend who eventually and legally become the members of this site(they have their terms of defining a legal member.) The shares called vshares gives you the ownership in the company equal to the number of vshares you own. On its website, Zurker also mentions that the vshares can be converted to actual shares once the company becomes a public venture. Once you join the website, for first 24 hours of sign up, you can earn 2 vshares per successful referral and 1 vshare thereafter.

Will it be able to compete with Facebook? Difficult to say. The design is not that great, the green coloured background looks like you have just entered an alien land and the side links need a better formatting, still, all this can be pardoned till the final version of this website is released for public use.

I am finding this social media tool to be a turn around in the way which people would interact but again i would not assume anything until the whole functionality is observed on their live systems.

The site is in beta mode and sign up is available only via referral. For people interested in sign up you can click here..Be a part of a revolutionary concept in the world of social networking (and lemme earn some vshares.. :))

Catch on the youtube video here which gives an overview of the website.

That's for You...

A perfect song for the perfect female in my life... :)

Woh dekhne mein kaisi seedhi-saadi lagti
Hai bolti ki woh toh kuch nahi samajhati
Andar se kitni tez hai
Kabhi ajeeb si, kabhi haseen lagti
Kabhi kisi kitaab ka hai scene lagti
Philosophy ka craze hai
Ho.. Kehti hai yeh ik phase hai
Ye kahaan main aa gaya ?!
Bolo ye kaisa ye teyaar hai
Dil kisi ka ho gaya
Naa isspe ikhtaiyar hai
Karun toh kya karun ?
Kahun toh kya kahun ?
Ye gaana bhi toh usko paas laane ka bahana hai
Woh chhup-chhup mere dil ke raaz kholti
Haan takiye mein mere khwaab bhi tatolati
Possessiveness ka case hai
Jaaan-e-jaan jaan-e-mann
Toh har gaane mein aata hai
Parwana Romio har ladka hi bann jaata hai
Likhu toh kya likhu?
Banu toh kya banu?
Yeh filmon mein ladka hi kyun ladki ko phansata hai?
Main chahoon bhi toh main sabhi woh kar jaata hoon
Woh aaye saamne toh main sudhar jaata hoon
Ladki ek full-on chase hai
Ho kehti hai yeh ek phase hai
Woh dekhne mein kaisi seedhi-saadi lagti
Hai bolti ki woh toh kuch nahi samajhati
Andar se kitni tez hai
Kabhi ajeeb si, kabhi haseen lagti
Kabhi kisi kitaab ka hai scene lagti
Philosophy ka craze hai
Ho.. Kehti hai yeh ik phase hai

Song's from the movie 'London Paris NewYork'.

Naak Voldemort Ki.....

Hey to all my dear Harry Potter loving friends... Here's a tribute to your dear Voldemort and his lost nose...
And others, treat it as the laughing dose for the day...

Mausiji meets Voldemort after a very long time. Uski naak dekh ke Mausi ji is compelled to ask him:

To which the poor fellow replies:

Par Mausiji to sach se bekhabar thi.... Harry Potter ko dhunte dhunte itna frustrate ho gaya ki Voldemort dance baar ki nachaniya ban gaya.. Wahin usne apni izzat lutwa di..(otherways NAAK KATWA LI)

Ghadi ghadi ab to bas har aahat pe wo yahi poochta he:

Aajkal rah chalte chalte Rock bhi Voldemort ke maze le leta hai...

Aur Mr. Bean to itne impress ho gaye hen ki unhone bhi yeh style apna liya....

Ab aapko agar Voldemort ki udani ho to here are a few suggestions:

Have fun guys...:)

Tu...

Zindagi me thokrein to bahut hen khayi,
par sambhalne ko bas tera hi sahara tha.
Dukh se aankhien nam to kai baar hui,
hasne ko bas tera hi bahana tha.

Jab bhi laga gum ho gaya hun mein,
tujhe hi manzil bana leta mein.
Mehsoos hua hi akela ho gaya hun mein,
teri yaadon ko saathi bana leta mein.

Kitni baaton se anjaan tha,
unse roobaroo tune karaya.
Kaisa bhi sukh-dukh jo aaya,
usme saathi tune banaya.

Laga darr kabhi kisi baat se,
himmat ko tune badhaya.
Hua yun ki nahi lag rha kuch bhi aasaan,
tab saath reh tune raasta dikhaya.

Andhere me roshni ki kiran he tu,
zinda hun uski wajah he tu.
Bhagwaan ko jaanta nhi mein,
par uski ek jhalak he tu.

Aayi thi ek umang jab mila tha tujhse,
laga tha is sansar k hein kuch maayene.
Lagta tha koi nhi he mere paas,
tujhe paa kar aur kisi ki chah na rhi.

Aadat nhi meri zaroorat he tu.
is life ki complete definition he tu.
Pinjre me kaid panchee k liye,
unmukt gagan ki aas he tu.

Lagta he adhoora sa tu nhi he jo paas,
lagta he bura jab rutha ho koi khaas.
Bayaan karte nhi bante afsos k alfaaz,
kar sako hume maaf, bas yahi he darkhast.

UPA 2: The innings continue!!

Congrats to the UPA coalition to have successfully completed one yr of their second tenure of governance in Centre. Dr. manmohan singh wud be a very happy man and so wud b the other party members and UPA supporters. Who the hell cares for the public anyways!!! Though i will cover the public woes some other time.

What good happened to UPA? the following would account to:

a)Allocation of 3G spectrum brought in huge sum of money. whooping 7400 crores.
b)Right to Education gets a shoot.
c)Women's Reservation bill is passed in Rajya Sabha which reserves 33pc seats in for women.

And many more...

However, there were setbacks to UPA too.

a)Naxal issues: UPA blantly fails to deal with this issue. It has perhaps become one of the major issues of the government.
b)Corruption: With the news of Telecom Minister A. Raja's involvement in illegally allocation the 2G spectrum, UPA suffered a great setback to its image. A tainted minister in the Cabinet is what would be the worst thing any government would expect to have.
c)price rise: Issue hitting hard on the janta. Price rise upto 17pc. and they siad it was a economic slowdown!!!
d)International relations: A failed Sharm al Sheikh meeting reflected poorly on the UPA's efficiency to maintain cordial relations with the Pakistan. While on the other hand, China has been stiff over its stances regarding Sikkim.

And many more...

All said and done, UPA faired many more negetives than giving a positive boost to the nation's infrastrucural and political growth(thts y i prefered to write 'And many more... ' twice). However, in my opinion, the leadership under which UPA functions gives me no reason to loose trust!!

Though, Right now what comes to mind is the meek face of PM Dr. Manmohan Singh. Has he always been like this? So unsure and ultra-dimplomatic? The press conference which was actually organised to make the nation aware of what the government holds for it in the future, ended as a mere speech of commitments which wr made long before during the election bt never saw the light. All i could infer was somehow somewhere Dr. Singh wr bounded to supply information to the media. His answers were short(even shorter than my TWEETS!!!!!), sometimes inappropriate and many times not upto the expectations. The media wanted answers, but all they got were assurances that evn Dr. Singh wasnt perhaps sure will materialize.

And yes rest is explained by this cartoon by shreyas navare(In HT) has pretty much explained the performance of UPA-2.. My first reaction to this cartoon was..obviously bursting into laughter and ramming the sofa, seconds later when i realized i have spilled my morning tea and my mom was frowning at me...
Anyways, mom can be dealt with a sorry and a smile!! Bt seems UPA is having hard time dealing with the nation!!! With P. Chidambram caught in traps by maoist issue is giving them a hard time, on the other, inflation has razed them through(thts Pranab Mukherjee). Mamta's rail has incurred huge losses( Laloo ki mehanat paani me) and no sign of peace at international borders.. But whats most important thing to note is, UPA still stands strong( Cake katiye Manmohan ji and sonia ji). They sense no threat to their government.. Janta k paas aur koi option bhi to nahi he shayad!!.

Wats taking them so much time?

Lemonade on one hand, and Remote on another, i was just surfing thru the channels when i came across this this debate on NDTV india..it was about Afzal Guru..the very person who was responsible for 13 dec 2000 attck on parliament which was termed as one of the most henious crime ever commited by the terrorist. It was termed as the "war on state". The debate was targeted at y is UPA government not executing the death penalty that was given to afzal by SC in 2005? A few eminent "leaders" of this country were a part of this debate. I heard the views of each of them. And the only inference i could draw was that all this moolah was a political hype. The indian judiciary system is immature and a mere puppet at the hands of Government and politicians( the leaders whom we select during the election).

The delhi CM Sheila Dixit gives an excuse of implications of law and order issues and that anti social elements which wud create problms in certain section of the society. Well law and order was disrupted a lot on 13 dec 2000 too.. when 7 policemen lost their lives defending the Indian "leaders" lives. Human rights say that giving death sentence is unethical and illogical.. Where did their logic and ethics go when people like Afzal and kasab were plotting and executing the plans to kills innocent people?

Law and order maintaince is ofcourse your duty. and it should be maintained. but without ascertaining the situation, how can they say anything tht holds no base? its like u r abusing that section of the society to be anti-indian and calling them the supporter of terrorism!! what a shame(sic!)

On the other hand ram jeth malani sir had his differnt but a polite view. He was against the very concept of death sentence. He was of the view that such criminals should rot in indian jails and they shud see the hell of it(yeah..these were his very words)!! Well sir, i think u have read the newspaper. Afzal and kasab both were being given royal treatment. They were VIPs of the jails they were in!! And certainly if no action is taken, we wud soon see a retelecast of 1999 hijack where these terrorists too would be let off!! and yet again the cycle will continue.. armed forces capture the "threat to state" and state runners let them off!!

is the tht indian democracy for us??
And guess who enjoys all this?

Just one Religion and just one God !!!

Well, i don't know how many of you would agree with me.. but i really hate being a follower of any particular religion. This whole concept of dividing people on the basis of religion is unacceptable. People are soften seen n sometime judged by wat God they prey to n the very fact that they are human is fogotten. I mean how does a Muslim guy different from a Hindu, when both of them have same physical entities as normal human being is supposed to have?

But yet, they are different. I try but fail to understand, how does it matter if another guy belongs to a minority religion or majority 1? Cant there be just 1 god and 1 religion?

My mom says, god has distributed himself just to suit to the needs of human... It has given them options to follow one of the many forms He has!!

Yeah! thats logical, but what reason would u give to the riots, bomb blasts, terrorism, vandalism, favourism that human conducts at the name of religion? Innocents are killed, properties destroyed, loss suffered, mental agony, isnt god responsible for that? If he hadnt at one place divided himself in so many forms, we would have not seen this day ever!!! World would have been a better place to live in!

And if god really is there, y doesnt he do ne thing to stop the people who are responsible for all this? The belief of His very presence suffice and tumbles everytime i listen to ne of the mass killings conducted by some religiuous groups to take revenge!! thts real sad then.. An atheist's life is much more better.. atleast he doesnt not blame himself to be a killer!!!

though the peace of this nation and world as a whole wont be restored with just one person turning against this divide.

Calling me an agnostic would be much appropriate. I do believe God's there. but am in a serious confusion Which one to follow?? Coz then i dont want to be killed or being accused to be a killer.. Religion scares me!!!

P.S.: I dont know the motive of this post..had to scribble something, but it did help me lighten up my heart up!! Didnt know writing something off makes u feel so good!!
this is a topic most random to be n the most conflicting one!!! this really didnt undergo scrutiny.. i started typing wateva came into my mind..
